A 26 day trip +/- extra days. The dates are clockwise heading up through Fradley, Burton on Trent and a side trip to Nottingham. Then setting off south on the River Soar before getting onto the Grand Union Canal Leicester mainline and up the Foxton flight.
The trip could be shortened to 20 days by cutting out some of the side trips (Nottingham and Coventry).
The Return trip is a familiar route via Rugby, Hawkesbury (Sutton Stop) and Atherstone.
A number of side routes such as the Market Harborough Arm and the Ashby canal (22 miles, no Locks) provide opportunities to extend the trip.
